Clinical Supervision for Trainee and Qualified Therapists

Support Group

I provide individual and group clinical supervision for trainee and qualified psychotherapists, counsellors and those in helping professions, both online and in person in West Bridgford, Nottingham.

My approach to supervision is grounded in Humanistic and Gestalt principles, with a focus on relationship, awareness and embodied experience. I aim to offer a supportive, collaborative and appropriately challenging space where you can reflect openly on your clinical practice while continuing to develop both personally and professionally.

I see supervision as a place where your way of being as a therapist is just as important as the client work you bring. Together we explore what is unfolding in your therapeutic relationships, your responses, assumptions, strengths and uncertainties, alongside the wider contexts in which you practise. I work alongside you to deepen awareness, find your edges and strengthen confidence in a way that reflects your own values and way of working.

Whether your focus is navigating the demands of training, preparing for accreditation, developing your professional identity or seeking renewed perspective as an experienced therapist, supervision is tailored to your individual stage of development, learning style and aspirations.

When it feels appropriate, we can also work creatively. Depending on what best supports your learning, we may draw on sand tray, art materials, movement or other experiential approaches to deepen reflection, develop fresh awareness and discover new perspectives that talking alone may not reveal.

How we can work together

Experience and expertise I bring to supervision

As a former Programme Leader of the MSc Integrative Psychotherapy programme at Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute (SPTI), I bring extensive experience of supporting therapists throughout their professional development. This role has given me a broad understanding of practitioner development, professional identity and ethical practice, together with an appreciation of the opportunities and challenges therapists encounter from training through to established clinical practice.

I work with trainee and qualified therapists from a range of therapeutic modalities and training backgrounds and have experience of supporting practitioners studying with several different training institutions. I am an approved supervisor for SPTI, Birmingham Newman University and the Metanoia Institute.

Academic supervision

Alongside clinical supervision, I also offer bespoke academic supervision for trainees and qualified practitioners undertaking research or further study. Whether you are preparing assignments or developing your research skills, I can provide structured support to strengthen your critical thinking, reflective practice or academic writing while helping you retain confidence in your own voice and ideas.

My background as a university academic, published researcher and practitioner within dance and the creative arts also enriches my supervisory approach. I have experience of both undertaking and facilitating practice-based research and have presented my work nationally and internationally.

Code of ethics and professional practice

As a UKCP Accredited Psychotherapist and Supervisor, my practice is grounded in the UKCP Code of Ethics and Professional Practice. I regularly supervise therapists from a range of professional backgrounds and training organisations, enabling us to work thoughtfully within the ethical requirements relevant to your practice. As part of my commitment to safe and ethical practice, I engage in regular supervision with an experienced UKCP-accredited supervisor, ensuring that my work remains reflective, accountable and professionally supported.
