About Gestalt
Psychotherapy
Are you used to coping alone, but know that something needs to change and don’t know how to make it happen?
Maybe life has changed, or perhaps something within you has. You might feel stuck, unsettled or unsure of what you need now. Therapy can help you slow down, understand what is changing, reconnect with yourself and discover new ways of being that feel more fitting for where you are now.
You may be:
-
Going through a significant change, loss or transition in your work, relationships, family or sense of identity, and wondering who you are now or what comes next.
-
Repeating familiar patterns in relationships or in the way you respond to yourself, even though you know they are no longer helping you.
-
Feeling disconnected from yourself, perhaps feeling lonely, experiencing anxiety, overwhelm or a sense that something isn’t quite right, without fully understanding why.
You may wonder whether you really need therapy. You might think, “I’m capable of dealing with things myself. Other people have it much worse.” Or perhaps you understand your situation intellectually but still can’t seem to change how you feel or respond.
Therapy doesn’t mean giving up your independence or that you have failed to cope in some way. It offers a space to become curious about what is happening, at a pace that works for you, so that you can begin to understand yourself in a different way and discover possibilities for change.
How therapy can help
Understand what is happening for you
Together, we can explore your thoughts, feelings and bodily responses, helping you notice what lies beneath the surface and understand your needs more fully.
Understand and change patterns that keep you stuck
We can explore the ways you have learned to cope and relate, including patterns that may once have helped but no longer serve you. Greater awareness can create more choice in how you respond.
Reconnect with yourself and move towards change
By bringing your thoughts, feelings and bodily experience together, therapy can help you develop a more integrated sense of yourself, make choices that feel authentic and find ways of living and relating that fit who you are now.

My approach
My approach is grounded in Gestalt psychotherapy, which means I am interested in you as a whole person rather than only the difficulties that have brought you to therapy. Together, we may become curious about your thoughts, emotions, relationships, what you notice in your body, and your present-moment experience. Often our bodies hold important information that words alone cannot fully express, opening up new possibilities for understanding and change. If it feels helpful, we can also draw upon creative or embodied ways of working, including art materials, objects, movement or body work. Or you may simply prefer to sit and talk.
Together, we'll find the approach that best supports you.
My role is to both support and gently challenge you in navigating the divide between where you are now and where you want to be. As we explore your experience together, you may begin to understand how familiar patterns developed and why they have stayed with you. As your awareness grows, so too can your ability to make different choices, respond in new ways and build more fulfilling relationships with yourself and others.
How change can happen

Since retraining as a therapist, I’ve supported lots of clients to make changes and I’d love to help you too.
Clients often describe experiencing shifts such as:
-
Greater awareness and connection to their body, feelings and needs
-
A clearer sense of who they are, what they need and what matters to them
-
Greater confidence in recognising and expressing their needs
-
New ways of relating to themselves and others
-
More choice in how they respond, rather than automatically falling into familiar patterns
-
Feeling more able to take meaningful steps towards change
-
Finding ways of living that feel more authentic and sustainable
