Welcome
Psychotherapy and Counselling in West Bridgford, Nottingham
Hello and welcome, I'm Marie
I support people who are used to coping independently, but are finding themselves at a point of change, uncertainty or transition.
When the ways you've always coped no longer work
You may have always been the responsible one: someone who copes, achieves, keeps going or puts other people's needs first. Perhaps you've learned to keep your feelings hidden, or even apologise for showing them. You may be used to knowing what to do and getting on with things. But now, something has changed.
The ways you've understood yourself, coped with life or related to others no longer seem to fit. You may feel stuck, unsettled, overwhelmed or unsure what you need now.
You don't have to know exactly what's wrong to begin
Therapy can give you space to understand what is changing and explore what might need to change with it.
I have experienced my own periods of uncertainty and transition, and know how disorienting and overwhelming they can feel. These experiences have deepened my appreciation of what therapy can offer and shaped my desire to create a space where others can feel supported, understood and able to explore what is happening for them.
Therapy with me is about slowing down, exploring what is happening and begin to discover what you need now.
I provide 1-1 short and long term psychotherapy and counselling for adults, and clinical supervision for trainee and qualified therapists, in West Bridgford, Nottingham, and online.
A body-oriented approach
My body-oriented way of working is informed by my training as a Gestalt therapist, and my extensive background as a professional dancer, movement practitioner and educator. Rather than focusing only on what you think and say, we can also pay attention to what you notice and experience in your body. Bringing awareness to these experiences can help you develop a deeper understanding of yourself and open up new possibilities for change, particularly when experiences are difficult to put into words or have been shaped by trauma.
